이번 Endocrinology and Metabolism (EnM) 35권 1호에는 10편의 종설과 10편의 원저가 실렸습니다. 2019년 남곡학술상 수상자 성균관의대 삼성서울병원 김재현 교수님께서 “Impact of Skeletal Muscle Mass on Metabolic Health”라는 제목으로 근육이 대사질환에 미치는 영향에 대해서 발표해 주셨습니다. 울산의대 아산병원 김원배 교수님께서 “Unmet Clinical Needs in the Treatment of Patients with Thyroid Cancer”라는 제목으로 아직 잘 밝혀지지 않았지만 갑상선암 환자를 치료할 때 필요한 부분 (수술 전에 예후를 예측할 수 있는 인자, radioiodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer환자에서 더 좋은 치료법)에 대해서 리뷰해 주셨습니다. 이탈리아 University of Turin의 Soraya Puglisi 교수님께서 “Is Follow-up of Adrenal Incidentalomas Always Mandatory?”라는 제목으로 당장 수술할 필요가 없는 부신우연종 환자를 어떻게 추적할 것인지에 대해서 제안해 주셨습니다. 성균관의대 강북삼성병원 이은정 교수님께서 “Prevalence and Current Management of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Korean Adults Based on Fact Sheets” 라는 제목으로 내분비 유관 학회에서 발표하고 있는 Fact Sheets를 정리해서 비만, 고혈압, 고지혈증, 당뇨병 유병률 및 치료 현황에 대해서 정리해서 주셨습니다.
흥미로운 원저도 많이 게재되었습니다. 우선 을지의대 박강서 선생님께서 “Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of Insulin Detemir Administered Once Daily According to Two Titration Algorithms (3-0-3 and 2-4-6-8) in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus” 라는 제목으로 기저 인슐린의 두가지 titration algorithms을 비교해서 발표해 주셨습니다. 두 가지 방법 모두 당화혈색소 감소는 비슷하였으나, 3-0-3 titration algorithm (+3단위 증량 또는 감량)이 저혈당 발생빈도가 낮음을 보고하였습니다. 울산의대 아산병원 김태용 교수님께서 “Modification of the Tumor-Node-Metastasis Staging System for Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma by Considering Extra-Thyroidal Extension and Lateral Cervical Lymph Node Metastasis” 라는 제목으로 4 cm 이하의 extrathyroidal extension이 동반된 경우에는 T3b에서 T2로 stage를 낮추고, 55세 이상의 N1b환자는 stage IIb로 올리는 것이 더 유용함을 보여주셨습니다. 고려의대 김신곤 교수님께서 “Epidemiology and Prognosis of Pheochromocytoma/Paraganglioma in Korea: A Nationwide Study Based on the National Health Insurance Service” 라는 제목으로 2003-2014년 국민건강보험공단 자료를 바탕으로 국내 pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma의 특징에 대해서 분석해서 발표해 주셨습니다. 유병률은 2.13 per 100,000명 정도이며, 악성의 비율은 17.7%였습니다. 이번 호도 회원 여러분들의 많은 관심 부탁드립니다.
